The plan for the June 7th meeting is to visit Exeter and join an Exeter Redcoats walking tour of Tudor Exeter. Helen and Simon have volunteered to co-ordinate the visit on the day.
This free walking tour starts from the Hooker Statue on Cathedral Green, Exeter
The tour looks at buildings which survive from the Tudor period and gives an idea of what life was like for the citizens of Exeter during this turbulent period.
Finishes on the Historic Quayside and lasts approximately 90 minutes.
A small group from Launceston U3A met by the statue of Richard Hooker by Exeter cathedral on a chilly, sunny day in June. We joined others on a tour of Tudor Exeter led by a very knowledgeable Red Coat guide. There are many tours to choose from, all free of charge and no need to book in advance. We spent a very enjoyable hour and a half being instructively guided around the city centre after which some of us went down to Exeter quay for a stroll along the river and a nice lunch in one of the many eateries. Travelling to and from Exeter by train from Okehampton made the outing even more enjoyable.
